With its elegant appearance and highly refined sportiness, the 8 Series immediately won many fans. The models available were the 840i, 840Ci, 850i, 850Ci, and the top-of-the-range 850CSi, which boasted an impressive 380 hp. By the end of production in 1999, a total of over 30,000 units of all models had been produced.
